Hi, I’m Ria and gun violence in schools is a significant problem we face today, especially in the United States. Each day 12 children die from gun violence in America. Another 32 are shot and injured. In fact, firearm deaths occur at a rate more than 5 times higher than drownings. Most students, including myself, have witnessed gun violence threats firsthand, and this hinders the ability of a school to function as a learning environment.
With GuardianShot, a small portable device that can be placed around a school, the school administration will be able to detect gunshots when they happen and notify all staff to ensure the safety of students.
This website is meant to capture the journey and process of creating GuardianShot. Click on my Blog to get started and learn about my vision for this project.
